Discriminate, say DON'T! :)

Thanks to Pn.M, I had the chance to watch 'The Freedom Writers' and I was crying while watching :) Haha, I am not the only one okay? Stop laughing at me x) Well, Pn.M should bring us for more movies, haha I know, trials are peeping at us, but we should relax sometime, right? :)
Tomorrow is Sunday, a school day, it's E-thon! Carmen is going to school with me tomorrow, haha, watch out, watermama, I am going to yell for you tomorrow morning! ;P My watermama aka grandma aka Carmen the Car Car is a pro! Nobody can competes with her as she really is the best, in my heart :D I am glad to know her and I thank God for giving me an awesome and crazy friend :) Well, I am slacking lately, after our mid term, until now, I am still not ready for school. Haih. Sad. I am rotting away. Someone, please help me, save me from rotting, trials are so near, and I am not ready. How can I? Haih. This is so depressing, really :(

Discrimination lives within everyone
What is the meaning of discrimination? Well, discrimination is the prejudical treatment of an individual based on his or her membership - or perceived membership - in a certain group or category. It involves the group's initial reaction or interaction, influencing the individual's actual behavior towards the group or the group leader, restricting members of one group from opportunities that are available to a group, leading to the exclusion of the individual or entities based on logical or irrational decisionmaking.

Around us, there are many different kind of people. Unfortunately for some people, they are being discriminated for some reason. For being fat, for being short, for being too thin or maybe for being dark. Why does this discrimination occurs? Discrimination occurs for many reasons. Some people discriminate simply because that is how they were raised. Others do it because they have a problem accepting anyone who isn't like themselves. But mostly, they all do it simply because they are ignorant. Besides, it also occurs because people want to think they are important, so they want to think others are less important.

Discrimination also begins with merely being prejudiced. We identify people, seeking those who possess similar traits as we do and gravitate towards them in our day-to-day activities. In doing so, our interactions with the others are repressed. Ergo, how ever are we genuinely going to know and learn about them? And because we don't know them, we create generalizations and pass judgements rooted from our marginal knowledge and our make-believe theories.

Well, according to the University of Guelph, there are many forms of discrimination. One of it is the direct discrimination. It occurs where an individual or organization treats another person unequally or differently based on one or more grounds. Another form of discrimination is the adverse discrimination. Adverse effects discrimination arises where seemingly neutral rules, which apply to everyone, have an adverse effect on individuals or groups because of their membership in a group identified by one of the grounds. Coming up next is the systemic discrimination. It occurs when policies, practices, procedures and attitudes which are viewed as neutral, and the usual way of doing things, result in discrimination. Next is discrimination by association. This  occurs when an individual is discriminated against because of his or her association with someone who is or who is perceived to be a member of a protected group.

What should we do when we are being discriminated? We must not pretend that it isn’t happening. Discrimination is unlikely to stop if you ignore it. In fact, harassing behaviour may escalate when harassers feel that they can get away with it. Next, we should seek for advice. We can talk to people with supervisory authority who will listen carefully and offer support. Lastly, we must take action, confront them immediately and directly, firmly tell those people to stop as their acts make you feel uncomfortable.

In retrospect, anyone who abuses another person’s rights, such as discrimination in the workplace is effectively curtailing that person’s freedom. Everyone has the right to live their lives without fear of being discriminated against by others. It is only by standing up to discriminators that Britain will eventually become an equal and free society.

If you are being discriminated, stand up and enforce your rights! :)

Realise and treasure every moment

Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course?
Each of us has such a bank.
It's name is TIME.

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off as lost,
whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose.
It carries over no balance.
It allows no over draft.
Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no drawing against "tomorrow."

You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!
The clock is running!! Make the most of today.

To realise the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realise the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realise the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realise the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realise the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who just missed a train.

To realise the value of ONE SECOND, ask someone who just avoided an accident.

To realise the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal at the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with.
And remember time waits for no one.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why its called the present.
